Malaekahana Beach · North Shore Oahu
A private Balinese estate on the sands of Malaekahana
Hale O'hana sits on a private acre of beachfront land on the North Shore of Oahu, designed from the ground up for the kind of trip that gathers families and fills a house with people you love. Imported furnishings from Bali, woven ceilings, carved teak, and open-air pavilions give the estate a character you will not find anywhere else on the island.
The great room opens completely to the pool and ocean through floor-to-ceiling pocket doors. Walk through the back gate and you are on the sand. The beach is your backyard, and it is almost always empty.
It is our home. We want it to feel like yours, too.
Malaekahana Beach stretches for miles along the northeastern shore of Oahu, bordered by the protected waters of Malaekahana State Recreation Area. It is one of the least crowded beaches on the island. Guests have described walking a mile in either direction and seeing almost no one.
The private back gate opens directly to the sand. There is a rinse station right at the gate. Beach chairs, boards, and toys are all stocked and ready. In summer the water is calm and gentle. In winter the surf builds and the views are spectacular.
"The beach was exceptional, pristine, and peaceful, with the property offering direct access and stunning views."

A full-length heated infinity pool that visually merges with the Pacific. Poolside cabana seating, a separate spa, and a beach gazebo beyond.
Commercial range, copper hood, three dishwashers, built-in refrigerator and freezer, oversized island with bar seating. Fully stocked and ready for a crowd.
Great room pocket doors open the entire back wall to the lanai and ocean. Indoor and outdoor living blend completely. The covered lanai seats the whole group.
Private locked gate from the backyard opens straight to Malaekahana Beach. Rinse station at the gate. Beach chairs, boards, and toys all included.
His and hers vanities, dual indoor showers, a waterfall wall feature, and a separate outdoor shower garden framed in lava rock. A room worth the trip alone.

Keypad security gate, lava rock perimeter walls, and a private courtyard entrance with lily pond. The property is fully self-contained and secure.
One of the most pristine and uncrowded beaches on Oahu. Protected by the state recreation area and steps from the back gate.
The largest cultural attraction in all of Hawaii is less than five minutes away. A full day of history, performance, and food from across Polynesia.
The world-famous North Shore surf breaks are a short drive down the coast. Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay, and the Banzai Pipeline are all nearby.
Golf, spa, fine dining, and water sports at the North Shore's premier resort, just 10 minutes up the coast.
Away from the crowds of Honolulu, at the far northeastern tip of the island where the North Shore gives way to wide open shoreline. Foodland is five minutes by car. The airport is about an hour.
Coffee as the sun rises over open ocean. The waves are audible from every room. Some guests never leave the property.
Snorkeling at Goat Island, body boarding out back, and Pipeline just down the coast for those who know how to read a swell.
The kitchen was designed for a group. Three dishwashers, a commercial range, and island seating mean nobody is cooking alone.
Guests have spotted Hawaiian green sea turtles and humpback whales from the property. The beach is quiet enough to give wildlife room.
Horseback riding, the Polynesian Cultural Center, Waimea Valley botanical gardens, helicopter tours, and Kualoa Ranch are all within easy reach of the property.
We built this home to share. The property was designed so a large group of people could spread out comfortably, find their own quiet corner when they need it, and come together again around the pool or the kitchen without feeling like they were on top of each other.
The North Shore was the right place for it. There is enough going on to fill a month, and enough stillness to actually rest. We hope you feel that when you are here.
"From the moment you walk through the gate and see that lily pond and the path to the front door, you know this is something different."
Hale O'hana · Kahuku, North Shore Oahu"The views of the ocean from the main sitting area, the outdoor seating, and pool are absolutely spectacular. The interior architecture is exceptionally unique. You can walk a mile plus in either direction and hardly see anyone."
"Stepping out onto the lanai to watch the sunrise over the ocean is what a Hawaiian vacation is all about. The beach is literally your backyard, and we even spotted whales. The infinity pool was a lifesaver with the kids. I simply can't recommend this property enough."
"Malaekahana Beach is just steps past the infinity pool. We had the beach to ourselves every day. The infinity pool was our relaxation after a long day surfing and body boarding. There is NOTHING better. We can't wait to return."
"WOW. ZEN. GORGEOUS. Spaced out and perfectly appointed. The best equipped kitchen we have ever experienced. This house had beauty everywhere you looked. Every room opens to the outside. We were in awe of this property."
"That view from the back of the home looking at the pool and out onto the ocean is worth every penny. We knew from the pictures it was going to be wonderful but it was more than wonderful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing your beautiful home."
"We were a family of 17 meeting for a long overdue family vacation, youngest being 4 and oldest 70. The privacy for each family was perfect. Everyone could sit outside and enjoy the view and listen to the waves while watching the kiddos in the pool."
"Our family of 20 with 11 grandchildren ages 10 months to 16 had a wonderful time. This home is stunning with a large kitchen that is fully stocked. The secluded beach and pool made for non-stop entertainment and fun."
"We had a group of 20 and we all had our own space and used the kitchen every night. The house is unbelievably beautiful and we spent most of our time outside hanging by the pool or walking on the beach. Such a special spot."
